From Brooklyn to North Carolina

Brothers Vinny, Mario and Tony, are from and grew up in Brooklyn. They’ve always been in the food business. Thanks to their Italian origins they love and know a thing or two about making pizza!

They left Brooklyn in 1981 and moved to the North Carolina coast. It was then that they officially opened Mario’s Pizza! They had a store in Jacksonville Mall and one in Havelock. At that time they focused solely on pizza.

From then to now, they’ve always offered authentic Italian-style pizza. Their recipes even date back to their family over in Calabria, Italy. To this day, these classic, family Italian recipes are incorporated into their dough and sauce.

A few years after opening at the coast, the family decided to relocate to the Triad as they had an offer to open a Mario’s Pizza in a shopping center off Hanes Mall Boulevard. The Mario’s Pizza off Hanes Mall Boulevard was the first of the Triad. Today Mario’s Pizza has grown to eight locations throughout the Triad. They also started a chain called Tony’s Pizza with six locations in the Charlotte area.
